Ace of Cups
The Ace of Cups is the seed of the suit's element before it has taken on any particular shape: pure feeling, the capacity for love, and the readiness of the heart to receive and to give. Traditionally it signals the arrival of something emotionally significant — a new relationship, a creative awakening, a deep intuitive opening — whose full form has not yet declared itself. Like all Aces, it is an offer rather than a fait accompli; the waters are available and flowing, but what they fill depends on what comes next. Its tone is generous and opening — the overflowing cup is a traditional image of abundance that cannot be contained — and it asks only that the invitation be met.
Imagery
Often depicted as a single chalice or cup held aloft by a hand emerging from a cloud, overflowing with water or light, frequently with a dove descending above it. A wide expanse of still water below is commonly shown, sometimes dotted with lotus blossoms or water lilies that suggest beauty emerging from depth.
A reference, not a reading. This is the card on its own… a reading reads how it falls with the others.
