La Luna

La Luna rige el territorio entre el estado de vigilia y el sueño, entre la certeza y la inquietante sensación de que algo está presente pero no se ve claramente. Piscis le presta profundidad, permeabilidad y la disolución de los bordes firmes: la carta es el dominio del inconsciente, de la ansiedad nacida de la ambigüedad y de los miedos y deseos que proyectan formas sobre la sombra. Por tradición habla de ilusión, autoengaño, confusión y también de las facultades creativas o intuitivas que operan por debajo de la conciencia ordinaria. Su aparición raramente promete claridad; más a menudo invita al consultante a notar qué está imaginando y si esa imaginación le sirve.

Imagery

La Luna suele representarse como una gran luna llena con rostro mirando hacia abajo sobre un camino que serpentea entre dos torres en dirección a unas montañas lejanas. Un cangrejo de río o una langosta aparece habitualmente emergiendo del agua en primer plano, y un perro y un lobo se muestran tradicionalmente aullando a cada lado del sendero —la domesticidad y lo salvaje, lo manso y lo indomable, contemplando la misma luz incierta.

Reversed

The half-light shifting — illusions beginning to clear, or confusion and fear deepening further.

Reversed, the Moon's territory of illusion moves in one of two directions. In the more hopeful reading, the fog begins to lift — a deception seen through, a fear examined and found smaller than it felt, the projected shapes on the shadow resolving into what is actually there. In the harder reading, the confusion deepens: anxiety intensifies, self-deception tightens its grip, and the line between intuition and imagination blurs past the point of trust. Pisces' permeability, inverted, can either release what it was holding or be flooded by it. Traditionally the card reversed asks what is being imagined versus what is real, and whether the unsettling half-known thing is finally surfacing into the light or sinking further out of reach. Its counsel is to move carefully and to distrust certainty in either direction until the light steadies.
